According to the hazardous materials classification ruled by the Transportation Department and Public Security Fire Department, the hazardous materials includes explosive articles, oxidizers, compressed gases and liquefied gases, spontaneous combustion, water burning items, flammable liquids, flammable solids, toxic chemicals, corrosive materials, and radioactive substances. Some items belong to at least two hazardous materials.

As for the toxic goods, the toxic signs should be put on the package. The main anti-toxic measure is to keep the tightness of the package, and prevent it from leakage. For instance, it is known that potassium dichromate and sodium dichromate are red transparent toxic substances. Those items should be contained within the iron barrel whose thickness is no less than 1.2mm. Later, the barrel must be closed tightly without leakage. The organic pesticides should be sealed into the asphalt sack, no leakage is allowed. Then use the outside package to wrap the sack. The toxic Zinc phosphide is used as the rodenticide. You should pack it with plastic bag before put it into the wood box. Inside the box, two pieces of Kraft paper, moisture proof paper, or plastic film should be used for isolation.

Mind the chemical changes between the corrosive materials and containers. The metal containers should be inside coated to prevent corrosion caused by the contained materials. The hydrofluoric acid is toxic and can corrode glass. Thus, it should be packed within the metal container or plastic barrel, which will be then put into the wood carton. The formic acid is volatile and corrosive. Therefore, it should be sealed into the acidproof jar, glass bottle, or plastic barrel. Then utilize the wood carton or metal barrel as the outer package.

The most effective package for flammable and explosive goods is plastic drum. Then wrap the plastic drum with iron drum or wood carton. The net weight of per set package is no more than 5Kg. An automatic vent safety valve should be equipped to automatically discharge the gas when the gas pressure inside the drum reaches a certain level.
